ENVIRONMENT POLICY

Overview

At Foundry our commitment is to empower creatives to make the impossible possible. We advance the art and technology of visual experience and create pioneering software for creative industries. We acknowledge that our operations have an effect on the environment and we commit to continually improving our environmental performance and impact.

We have identified the following key environmental aspects that contribute to our environmental and carbon footprint: (a) consumption of electricity, gas, water, and other fuels, (b) waste generation, and (c) transport emissions. We are aware that, as we begin to use artificial intelligence (“AI”) tools internally, this use will also have an impact on our environmental and carbon footprint. As such, as we adopt use of AI tools, we shall begin to monitor the impact that the use of AI tools has internally, and we shall consider ways that we can reduce this impact. We shall also explore how AI tools may assist us with meeting our sustainability commitments, such as by utilising AI to assist with the monitoring and forecasting of our carbon footprint.

Measures we are putting in place to improve our environmental impact
include:

  • Monitoring compliance with all applicable standards, laws, requirements, regulations.
  • Measuring and aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of our business activities to meet our published environmental objectives and targets, focussing first on the measuring of electricity, gas, water, flights, waste and capital expenditure.
  • Integrating recognised environmental management best practice into our business operations,
    including:
    • Managing waste generated from our business operations including reducing, reusing and recycling in line with our Eco Action Plan 2025 and our environmental initiatives.
    • Measuring equipment electricity used with Sunbird.
    • Ensuring environmental criteria are taken into account in the procurement of goods and services in accordance with our Third Party Procurement Policy.
    • Incorporating environmental criteria into our Travel & Expenses Policy.
  • Aiming for 2% per annum reduction in emissions (against our baseline) across measured resources via Investors In the Environment ("IIE").
  • Educating our staff on environmental issues and the environmental effects of their activities.
    • We encourage our staff to actively participate in environmental initiatives.
    • We provide up to two paid 'Passion Days' per year to each of our staff which can be used to support our company environmental objectives.
    • We encourage our staff to join industry groups on environmental and sustainable initiatives, where available.
    • We encourage our staff to take part in carbon offsetting or explore local projects that seek to improve the quality of their environment where possible.
  • Putting together an Environmental Spend Framework to identify a process for contributing to external environmental initiatives from a financial perspective.

We will continue to improve our environmental management system by working to the IIE criteria, considering any changes in legislation, our organisation, and other applicable factors. We will convey this Environment Policy to all our staff, ensuring that they are provided with training to increase awareness of environmental matters. We will also communicate our environmental aims to customers, investors and external stakeholders.

We have a Sustainability Champion, Peri Friend, and a Sustainability Leader, Adam Goodsearles, who together have designated responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of this Environment Policy. We also have an Executive ESG Working Group where we hold ourselves accountable at the highest levels.

We will make this Environment Policy available when requested to interested parties including members of the public, including making a copy available on the Foundry website.
